Becoming a Credentialed Coach

Updated: Dec 13, 2022

So who is the ICF and how do I become a credentialed coach?

Over the past 25 years, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) has established itself as the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession. The ICF offers the only globally recognized, independent credentialing program for coach practitioners. The hallmark of the ICF's work is the Code of Ethics and Core Competencies, which establish standards for ethical conduct and markers of effective coaching for 3 distinct coaching credential levels.

Each of the ICF's 3 credentialing levels have their own requirements for hours of ICF-aligned education, mentoring, and hours of client coaching:

  • Associate Certified Coach (ACC): 60+ training hours & 100 hours of coaching

  • Professional Certified Coach (PCC): 125+ training hours & 500 hours of coaching

  • Master Certified Coach (MCC): 200+ training hours & 2,500 hours of coaching

All of our instructors are ICF credentialed coaches and we have aligned our curriculum with the ICF because the Core Competencies provide an evidence-based approach to coaching that empowers clients to take a leadership role in their growth and development.

More importantly, our curriculum provides 135 hours of online training which satisfies the ICF education requirements for the ACC and PCC credential. We also pair our students with another peer coach and include 10 hours of mentor coaching in our curriculum, which meets the ICF’s coaching mentor requirements and will give you a head start on obtaining your coaching hours.
